Today I brought the baked ziti to work. And it went over like a lead balloon. Apparently no one likes ziti, or something, I don’t freaking know, but I and the one guy who asked for it were the only ones who ate any. I was kind of upset by that and ended up crying in the bathroom, because seasonal depression makes me way more sensitive about stupid shit like that than I would normally be.
Then, I got home and found not one, but THREE packages on my doorstep. One of them was the blocking mats I ordered from Knitpicks.com (basically it’s a knitting thing, no worries if you don’t know what it means). I got them because my friend’s mom sent me a gift certificate for Christmas, which was so sweet of her. ❤ The second package was an order from TightlyWoundYarn.com, which is a little online knitting store whose owner I know from Ravelry, we are doing an armwarmer Knit-Along this month, with yarn from her, so I had to order the yarn, of course! And it is delicious, lovely deep shades of red. I also bought a couple more sets of TEENY TINY needles for doll knitting, because there are never enough tiny needles (they’re sizes I didn’t have already).
AND THEN. The third package was my Christmas presents from my best friend. She came home to NC from studying abroad in England this year (she goes back next weekend), but her checked luggage that had all the Christmas gifts for her family and friends in it got lost. Luckily, the airline found it last week, and once she got it back she sent off my little package. And oh, the gifts. ❤ There were some miscellaneous things from Christmas Bingo (her family’s tradition, since I couldn’t go she had one of her dolls play a card for me), but the main things were YARN (all the way from England, and it’s gooooood stuff) and a beautiful little book of quotes about love, and the first season of Justice League (the animated series) on DVD, because I am a huge nerd. XD The misc things were hand lotions (which I am always happy to have), a necklace, and a little flashlight. ❤ And it just made the day so much better, because I felt so loved and appreciated when I saw everything in that package, it just about erased all my sucky feelings from earlier in the day. Who the fuck cares if my coworkers wouldn’t eat the ziti? I have people who love me and send me beautiful gifts.
Now I just have to find the perfect pattern for this skein of blue silk and wool. X3
