Today I’m going to share with you some old pictures of myself. Of course, we’ll end with today’s picture, because I did take one, but I want to give you a glimpse of who and what I’ve looked like in the past. These date back to 2004, mostly because I don’t have any on my computer from earlier. Next time I see my mother, I’ll bug her to scan some pictures of me as a child or something.

I remember this very well. This was the big Drag Show we had every year, I was dressed to the nines for it.

This was my first big haircut in college, I think, and that shirt was new at the time, hence my wish to capture the moment, I suppose.

This is still one of my favorite pictures of myself. My mother and I went to New York as my Christmas present to see the Sweeney Todd revival, and we also got to see Lucia di Lammermoor at the Met while we were there.

This was supposed to be a glamour shot of sorts, but I miscalculated the timer. I actually like the results better than the subsequent shots.

This was taken in a horse drawn carriage on our way up to Neuschwanstein castle, during my trip to Germany.

While wandering in the gardens of this estate (I forget which it was) we found a random stone block, so we decided to all pose on it as "statues". I was going for "goddess with spear".

These were two of the other girls on the trip. The fourth member of our wandering party that day took this posed picture.

This was an attempt to take an "artsy" photo for this knitted object, a large rectangular shawl that I am still very proud of.

A photo taken a few weeks back, I was just being silly as hell. It was after I'd already decided to start this blog.
A few notes about these pictures. For one, you may have noticed that I have the exact same glasses in every photo where I’m wearing glasses. This is because when I find a pair of frames I like, that sit well on my face, I hang on to them for dear life. The actual frames were replaced twice, but I just ordered the same style both times. In photos without glasses, I am indeed wearing contact lenses, I can see about four inches in front of my face without any kind of assistance. Contact lenses are necessary for performing, as glasses form a barrier between your most expressive feature and your audience. If they can’t see your eyes, they can’t connect to your performance emotionally. I only stopped wearing them in the past year because I haven’t been to an eye doctor in a while (again, broke, that means no insurance either) and thus the ones I have are expired and I’m not taking my chances wearing them.
Also, regarding my hair. I actually cut it short first in high school, but then grew it out during college, until I decided I really did prefer it short and had it cut again. I kept it short until moving to Cincinnati, when I was simply too broke to get it cut. I did end up getting it cut in January (as a symbolic “cutting off” of the awfulness that was 2009), but it’s obviously grown out since then, and I am once again too broke to get it cut. Also, my hair really is very dark brown, not black as certain photos above may suggest.
You may notice a significant gap between 2008 and 2010. That is because I only took a few pictures in 2009, it was a very bad year for me emotionally and in terms of life events, so I didn’t really care to commemorate it. I’m sure there are one or two pictures floating around, but I try not to look at them very often.
One other thing I would like to note. I still have most of the clothes pictured above. And most of them still fit me just fine. My weight has been steady for the past six years. So anyone who thinks fat people HAVE to diet or else they just get fatter, to you I say nyah nyah nyah. XD The only exception to this is pants, as many pants end up wearing out faster than shirts simply because of the chub rub between the thighs. C’est la vie.
And that’s it, really. It’s kind of fun to look back sometimes and see subtle changes in my features. Tomorrow I think I’ll post *gasp* some pictures of my family!!
I really do love that picture of you when you went to NY!
It just looks so great, doesn’t it? Which reminds me, I totally forgot to include my “official headshot” in these! Oh well, maybe tomorrow. ;D
